Line Unit Games
In the Line Unit, we will discover 7 basic lines that have been studied over thousands of years. Sociologists have seen patterns in how people look at lines and interpret them; how we emotionally react. Peoples' reaction to the placement of "lines" is the same in every continent, whether in Europe, Asia, or America the interpretation is consistent throughout time as we try to communicate with one another. Even as far back as pre-historic times, the cave men communicated with these 7 basic lines. Today our society still uses these lines for communication. It is most commonly seen in commercials, and advertising. Below you can hover over a line. First, take a little bit of time and think about what that line might mean. Then, click on the star beside each line, then write in your notes pages what it means, find a picture in a magazine with that line and explain why you think it tells more about the picture and what it is trying to communicate. Be ready to share with the class as we do a Play: Around-the-World in 60 seconds.
