Materials: Drawing paper for homework and practice 6 X 8. The still life drawings will be done on three 9x12 sheets OR , two 11.5x14 sheets of drawing paper using the different drawing tools: 4 drawing pencils, kneaded eraser, blending stick, and pink eraser.

Graphite homework:
1. Make value scales ( 1 square inch for each transitional value) for each pencil using different techniques. Look at example board, you will fill out the whole chart. (Hint: get the value chip chart started, take a picture of the chip chart on the example board, and begin #2)
2. Pick a piece of fruit from under the paper table, create an underdrawing, including the areas of values that will to go on your fruit- this should not take more than 15 minutes. Next add shading to show dimension. If you DO NOT finish by the end of the hour, take a photo of your fruit, take home your sketch, and complete your work over the weekend. Completed chip chart of pencil values AND properly shaded fruit are done with at least 5 values placed in correct proportions and placement.
Part B- We are not doing this portion this trimester. 2022-23
1.Draw three more objects of your choice from home. One of these items need to be a cylinder .
*Follow the example we learned in class.
2. The other two objects are your choice.
* Begin with an under-drawing, make sure objects are three-dimensional, then shade the objects.
* Your objects need to take up about 3/4 of your paper. ( Do NOT draw too small.)
* Make sure you can identify all five values within the object and the cast shadow.
In class practice assignments-Still life: Glass with Cloth , Metal, Skull, and leather. TAKE A PICTURE of the area where you are sitting to use as a reference. You can print off images if you feel you need extra help. When drawing the objects, the still life should touch 3 of the 4 sides of you paper. This includes the clothe and the cast shadow.
